Jayme Summers, FM Announcer

Bart Wagner, FM Program Director

Where were you born?

I was born in Henetta, Texas. So, that makes me a Texan by birth; but my heart has always been right here.

When did you get into radio and why?

I got into radio in 1999. I had been working for a TV station doing videography and directing; and it was just too stressful. I thought radio would be a nice change, and would allow me to work without leaving my daughter with a sitter. It has given me a time to have fun, but not compromise being a stay-at-home mom.

When did your relationship with Jesus start?

When my daughter was 3, she started asking why we didn’t go to church like all of her friends did. (We had insisted she go to a Christian school…the irony ?) That was about 9 years ago, and I have fallen more in love with him everyday.

Where is the favorite place you’ve lived?

I like the people in Texas and my family history there. Virginia is beautiful and a great place to raise kids. However, the good Lord saw fit to allow me to move to Georgia over 12 years ago, and (unless he sends me) I don’t want to live anywhere else.

What is your best childhood memory?

It was just my mom and I, so we never had much money. The one thing that stands out, was the Christmas I got my Cabbage Patch doll. I am not sure how mom ever pulled our money together to do the amazing things she did, but that was the best Christmas ever. I wish I still had the doll, but I LOVE hearing the story about how she went about trying to get it for me.

What sports team do you always root for?

We are not big sports fans. Our daughter plays, so we love soccer… GO EXTREME!!!!! I will watch football a couple of times a year, only if the Cowboys or UVA are playing. I haven’t gone DAWG crazy yet, but my daughter is getting there?

Who is your current favorite musician?

Wow, that’s really hard. If I have to pick one, it would be Shaun Groves.

Other than the Bible, what book are you reading now?

(Never thought I would read anything with this kind of title, but….) Men are like waffles, Women are like Spaghetti, a friend took the course at Ridgecrest, and is teaching it now. I just finished the final Left Behind, Kingdom Come. It was great! LOVE that series, and it is a great way to witness to an avid book reader.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

Brunswick, why leave? Actually we spend a lot of time in Orlando (along with 90% of Georgians that have small kids). Frank and I are coaster freaks, so it’s a great place to take the kids and still have fun.

What vacation spot have you always wanted to go to, but haven’t yet?

I have a list, so hold on. I want to see Greece, the Caymans, Alaska, Niagara falls, the Redwood forest, Brazil, Ireland…. I can keep going if you want me too! I would really like to see the Eiffel Tower, but I have zero desire to go to France. If you can figure out how that will work, let me know

What would be a perfect Friday night for you or your family?

I guess we are like most families, with everyone going in different directions. When we can get away to Savannah, and the kids can play with their cousins while Frank and I play cards with his siblings… those are my favorite times.

What is your favorite food?

A friend of ours introduced me to Ban Xao (not sure if that is right), and I LOVE it. It’s hard to get, but is a Vietnamese pancake (reminds me of a burrito). I also love a good steak and some A1. I have only eaten one steak in my life that was soooooo good, that I didn’t put A1 on it.

Do you have any pets?

I have a Bassett hound, Sir Roy Peesalot, but we call him Roy? He is the greatest, but he won’t come to me until I put on a man voice. So, if you live in my neighborhood, you’ll hear me trying to get him to come back inside. I sound ridiculous, and I am sure my neighbors think I am nuts. We also have a goldfish named Nemo, that I baby more than Roy, because I am desperately trying to keep him alive!
